I love the Mill House Hotel at Swallowfield. It has such an informal feel to it and every time I’ve worked there the wedding has been relaxed and fun (and nearly always sunny!). I was delighted when Kirsty and Miles were kind enough to ask me to photograph their wedding there, especially as it was as a result of a recommendation from Debbie (Kirsty’s sister) and Neil. I had photographed their wedding a few years ago at Silchester House. Personal recommendations always mean so much.
The day started with some shots of Kirsty and the girls getting ready at the Mill House. They had the help of some Prosecco and a guest appearance from Oscar, looking very smart in his Pageboy gear. Miles was busy meeting and greeting guests as they filed into the ceremony room, along with Elsie-May, Kirsty and Miles’ daughter.
After a beautiful, emotional ceremony and some confetti, we were able to make the most of the fine weather and lovely gardens at the Mill House for plenty of fun, informal photos and some groups. Kirsty, Miles and I also enjoyed a relaxed bride and groom photo session around the gardens and by the river before everyone made their way into the marquee for the wedding breakfast.
Debbie had prepared a surprise for the bride and groom and, before the meal, there was a fantastic singalong and conga session (to help work up an appetite) with a singing waiter and chef, the cheer for the top B in “Nessun Dorma” was quite something.
After the emotional speeches at the end of the meal, there was still plenty of time for relaxing in the gardens before Kirsty and Miles cut their cake and got the evening party off to a great start with their First Dance. Thanks, Kirsty and Miles. I wish you, Oscar and Elsie-May all the best for your future.
