It’s always an exciting prospect to photograph a wedding at a venue for the first time, as it means looking forward to visiting and exploring what it offers for light, angles, backgrounds etc. So I was delighted when Anna and Jay asked me to photograph their wedding at the spectacular De Vere Horsley Towers in Surrey and we had a lovely meeting around a month before their wedding to discuss what they were looking for and to have a look around the possibilities for their wedding photographs. So, as always, I was familiar with the venue in plenty of time for their big day. In addition to a spectacular building, lake and grounds, Horsley Towers has a beautiful old Chapel and Cloisters which are fantastic for photos of the bride and groom.
Anna and Jay asked me cover around ten hours, from bridal preparations until after the first dance, so this allowed plenty of opportunities to observe and photograph the day as it unfolded. And what a day it was: full of laughs, fun and emotions right from bridal preparations until I left after the first dance. Anna and Jay, their families and friends were a delight to photograph and it was abundantly clear that Anna and Jay loved – not just each other – but their fabulous wedding day from start to finish. Here’s a selection from their day.
