Jaynie and Luke were kind enough to ask me to photograph their midweek wedding in August at fabulous Wasing Park, near Aldermaston, Berkshire. The purpose built Ceremony and Castle barns at Wasing have great atmosphere and light (Wasing also has a church on site but Jaynie and Luke’s was a civil ceremony). Jaynie’s preps were in Aldermaston where a horse and carriage picked her up to follow her bridesmaids to the venue. Optimistic perhaps, but the early rain cleared in time for her trip to the venue and stayed off for the rest of the day.
An early ceremony (12 noon) leaves plenty of time for casual shots during the day as guests and the couple relax, hence a few more shots in this post than usual. Jaynie was keen that we took some shots of her and her bridesmaids on the enormous bed in Wasing’s Honeymoon Suite. Among the guests were Jaynie’s grandmother, just one week shy of her 99th birthday. After some hilarious and moving speeches, giant Jenga and ice cream were the order of the day. To close, the bride and groom “cut the cheese” cake and went on to start the evening’s dancing to their excellent band.
