I was delighted to be asked by Nicky and Chris to shoot their wedding at the beautiful Red Lion Hotel in Henley; my first wedding there. The hotel overlooks the Thames and the preparations across the river for the forthcoming Henley Regatta.
As the bridal hair was being prepared (by Sarah Fuller), Nicky was helped to get ready by her young daughters and bridesmaids.
Chris and the boys arrived to meet and greet the guests and pay a cheeky visit to the bar before being called in to the Thamesis Room for the ceremony. Nicky and Chris had chosen to have no readings so the ceremony was very short. We were lucky that the forecast heavy showers all happened early on so, after the ceremony, we were able to get out into the sunshine for some group photos in front of the hotel. I then took the bride and groom for a short walk down by the river for some relaxed photos before they returned to enjoy time with their friends and family before the wedding breakfast.
Soon the evening guests arrived to find some exhausted parents as the many children there were still going strong (and waiting for the construction of the chocolate fountain for further fuel). Then it was time for the cutting of the cake and first dance, following which Nicky had a second dance with her dad to finish off the formalities before the evening party really got going.
