Claire and Henry were lucky enough to have one of this summer’s few sunny days for their wedding at the beautiful Mill House, Swallowfield, near Reading, Berkshire. While Claire was getting ready upstairs at the Mill House, Henry and his groomsmen were enjoying a pint at the George and Dragon just down the road.
The ceremony room at The Mill House is quite small which made for an intimate ceremony which was, nevertheless, not short of laughs. Claire and Henry wanted an emphasis on informal shots for their day, so we took some very quick and casual bride and groom shots in the lane next to The Mill House before they returned to their guests.
The garden at The Mill House was perfect for the children to run around in before and after the ceremony. I’m always amused that children NEVER get worn out at weddings, however long the day. Their parents might hope that they will and will probably end up worn out themselves, but not the kids!
The main events of the day from then onwards were in the Mill House’s excellent and very large marquee. After their wedding breakfast and speeches, Claire and Henry went on to cut the cake (made by a friend) and straight to their first dance before their guests joined them and the evening proper started. All this time a hog had been roasting outside throughout the day in case anybody was still hungry in the evening.
