Many thanks to Alison and Steven for asking me to photograph their wonderful tartan wedding at the beautiful Guildhall in Windsor, Berkshire and their fun filled reception in the Royal Adelaide Hotel, Windsor. My day started off at Alison’s parents’ house in Wokingham for a few prep shots of the bride and her family, before heading off to catch Steve in the Carpenter’s Arms pub for a bit of Dutch courage before the main event. All the guys being dressed in tartan certainly turned the heads, as did their Piper. The light in the Guildhall is perfect for shooting wedding ceremonies in natural light, and it offers a great position for the photographer on the dais at the end of the room.
The Piper led the way to the Long Walk for the group photos and the shots of the Bride and Groom. I love using the Long Walk in Windsor, and it’s particularly special for being able to show the Bride and Groom, hand in hand, walking away to start their lives together. The wedding breakfast and reception were held at the Royal Adelaide Hotel, near the Long Walk and included an amazingly well prepared Best Man’s speech which made the most of the fact that the Bride and Groom are both airline cabin crew members. Finally, I left them to party on well into the night after the band had led their first dance.
